History of Alba Re-Enactment & Clan Heritage Trust.

Alba Re-enactment & Clan Heritage Trust was established back in 1995 and is a recognised Scottish Charitable Trust. The aim of the Trust is to promote Scottish Culture and Heritage but, in particular, the Clans of Scotland.

Ken and Margaret MacSorley, the founders of the Trust, both had a keen and mutual interest in Scotland 's past and when they decided to set-up Alba they wanted to do it in their own way and, therefore, the Trust is proud of it's originality and uniqueness. From plaid demonstrations, dress and fighting etc the Trust has become well known for it's own style and independence in the way in which it portrays Scotland 's colourful, bloody and fascinating past.

Apart from the Trust's fighting armoury and the weaving of it's plaids everything is made by the Trust itself. Historical research is also done by the Trust but, if unsure of any facts we have researched the Trust turns to Dr. Rennie McOwan who is always able to help us out – we have a lot to thank him for as he has helped the Trust out when required from day one.

Another person that has been involved with the Trust since it's early days is our Patron – Jamie Erskine, The Earl of Mar & Kellie – Alba must thank him for all his encouragement and support.

Throughout the years Alba has gone from strength to strength and has now become one of Scotland 's most popular and much in demand Re-enactment Groups and will continue to carry out it's aim of promoting and keeping alive Scotland 's fascinating and magical Heritage.
